Goodbye Mr Booze?…

Well, after 7 days of no alcohol, it’s more of a “so long” or an “a dieu” thus far…

I don’t want this post to be a long rambling tract on the evils of alcohol (everything in moderation) but there’s a few significant changes that I should definitely feedback to the world at large…

I don’t doubt for a second that the groggy, craving and “vague” feeling during the first few days of abstinence was more my body adjusting to no alcohol (which to be fair, over xmas and the run up to it was hard to avoid/willingly partaken in) than the change in animal based food intake…

But then (cold/plague notwithstanding) I started to feel more energised; didn’t have the urge to nap in the middle of the day, woke up with a renewed vigour and desire to get more things done – definitely more acute of thinking & perception…and more than all of this, the feeling of non specific unrest/paranoia or discontent has gone…and I’m sleeping like a dead thing…yes, yes I know this is what is always reported when people stop drinking, but it’s true! (If only you could make the pay off of pints of lime & soda feel that good!)…

Now, just to make this clear, this isn’t/wasn’t an issue that stopped me from functioning (a wee bit of suspicion is always healthy!) but you “don’t know what was there until it’s gone” and this is definitely very salient in this case!…I’m stopping this paragraph now lest I start sounding like one of those perma-tanned, white teethed hawkers on QVC selling “Dr Siegfried Q. Nofriends: Patent Diet & Exercise Suppositories”…

Of course this could also be due to the lessening of processed/convenience food in my system (again a staple of xmas) or a cumulative effect of all this…

So with sharpened mind and able body it’s time to get out of bed and head to work!…

Look busy! (They don’t know what’s going to hit ‘em)…
