“Compare & Contrast” or “Follow the Money”…

Morning All…Ah the plague is still here, however it’s definitely moved onto its next, and hopefully final, stage – I’ll spare you the details, but I don’t know how my head can fit this much goo inside it!

So I’m working from home today – which is fine as I’ve got paperwork and admin to do which is easier at home outside of the office and its associated distractions…plus I can sit on the sofa in my pants and have the radio on too…sorry, I said I’d spare you the details!

However, I’m not one to be sat still even when close to death (no, really!) so I got up and walked to the local Lidl to grab ingredients for a “Hungarian Goulash & potato dumplings” for dinner this evening a la Chateau Carly…but whilst I was there, all of a sudden I had other things I wanted to buy – Like dried fruit for snacking and rice/grains and general store cupboard vegan friendly stuff…

I think it’s probably the time to reveal something…a deep, dark secret…I LOVE SUPERMARKETS!…there, there I said it…Whenever I find myself in a foreign land, I love looking at all the different things they have over there compared to us…from the fresh veg and fruit to the general stuff, not to mention the different ranges/flavours of favourite things…hey, you’ve got to have a hobby!…

So…this is how I ended up with this haul…

…and all for the grand total of £15.42…which is amazing (and heavy, seeing as I had to load it all into one bag and tote it back home!…did I mention its freezing and windy?)

On the Sherpa led expedition back through the frozen Tundra of East London I got to thinking about how much I’d saved buying this stuff at Lidl (bearing in mind its all Vegan friendly) rather than going to Asda, Tesco or Sainsbury’s…

Believe it or not, when I plugged it all into the Tesco shopping app (I’d picked Tesco as its mid range between Asda and Sainsbury’s) it cost basically £13 more!…scoundrels 🙂

This also got me thinking (too much thinking going on today for my liking) about how expensive certain things are – like fruit/veg and yet how we are constantly bombarded with the need to eat “5-a-day” or be dead, on fire, in a ditch by lunchtime…now, this could easily become an angry rant about governments, bullying supermarkets and the supplier – but the internet/blogs are already full of that, so I’ll leave you with a picture of a cat with a tangerine on its head…
